Marketing through Non-Traditional Holidays
Most practices will agree: coming up with creative new marketing initiatives is challenging. As much as we want to just open our doors and welcome new patients, it takes some creativity to get your practice noticed by potential patients or referring physicians. One way to come up with new ideas is to leverage non-traditional holidays to host an event, sale or campaign. Below are our tips for marketing through non-traditional holidays.
Research national holidays
There’s a holiday for almost everything if you look hard enough. Here are some ideas your practice can leverage:
- World Hearing Day (March 3) – offer free hearing screenings.
- National Save Your Hearing Day (May 31) – have a sale on custom earmolds.
- International Thank You Day (January 11) – send thank you cards to referring providers.
- International Sneeze Day (January 20) – promote allergy testing.
- Giving Tuesday (November 28) – collect donations for a food bank or other charity.
Plan it out
Whether the campaign is successful or not, it’s important to come up with a plan and stick to it. You want the holiday to be meaningful and memorable, and it won’t be either if you aren’t committed.
Utilize social media
If you’re hosting an event, promote it on social media. You can create an event people can RSVP to, integrate promotional posts into your regular social media calendar and communicate with the community. You can also track hashtags to see how others are celebrating.
Track engagement
Pay attention to how patients interact with your practice. What are they saying on your social media posts? What questions are they asking your front office staff? What suggestions are they offering for the future?
Remember success
If you have a successful event, post photos online and thank participants. Roll it out again the following year and think of ways new ways to celebrate!
