A Holiday Plan Poem
Summer is over and autumn is done
The calendar pages are down to just one
The weather’s turned cold, there are Santas galore
On every corner (and inside every store)
Lights decorate houses – colored and clear
There’s no doubt about it: Christmas is near
Your staff is preparing to enjoy the season
Make sure your patients don’t resort to treason
After showing up at your office for care
Only to find that there’s nobody there
This can all be avoided and you will save face
By making sure there’s a holiday policy in place
Make it official – write it all down!
And then be sure to pass it around
Don’t keep it limited to your internal crew
Let all your patients know about it, too
Step one’s the most basic, so do it with verve
Decide which holidays you will observe
Next, you’ll need to address compensation
And whether employees can tack on vacation
Double time, triple time, time and a half
Come up with a plan for the entire staff
Don’t forget decorations and holiday greetings
Inform the whole staff in office-wide meetings
Whether you’re sticking to secular strictly
Let everyone have input; this one is tricky!
There’s one final topic you’ll need to address
When patients give gifts should you acquiesce?
Once this is decided, your plan is all done
Happy holidays! May your celebration be fun.
