Employee morale is important. People do their best work when they are excited and energized. While doling out the kudos and pats on the back may work for some, the best way to lift your staff’s spirits is to schedule the occasional out-of-work activity.

There are countless team building activities to choose from. Below you will find just a few of our favorites.

Volunteer

This gives you the option to pick any sort of charitable work you’d like. It can be an organization that builds houses for the homeless or one that provides medical care to the less fortunate. Regardless of what you choose, volunteering as a team gives your staff members the chance to bond while doing something good together. it also helps remind them that your organization values giving back, which may help inspire some of them to continue volunteering.

Dinner

This can be done in a variety of ways. You can simply invite your staff members out for a good meal to show them how much you appreciate their work. You can also have a little fun, inviting randomly selected employees from different departments out. This lets people get to know others they don’t typically interact with over good food. Whatever you choose, make sure you pick up the bill.

Explore Your City

This is another fun one. Organize a company-wide touristy event. Not only will it give your employees a laugh, walking around like tourists in their own city, but it provides them with some pretty interesting information about where they live. Who has not secretly wanted to go on a Segway tour?

Scavenger Hunt

An all-company scavenger hunt is a great way to explore your immediate surroundings while getting your employees to spend time with people they don’t see every day. Strategically break your company into teams (by this we mean don’t put all the front office staff on a team together) and send them on a hunt around town. They will be tasked with finding specific objects, taking pictures of specific things and having an all-around fun afternoon. Ending the day with a company-sponsored happy hour never hurts either.

As you can see, the options are limitless. Getting your employees out of the office, interacting with each other and having an all-around good time is what you are striving for.
