STEPS Forward is an\noffshoot of the <a href=\"https:\/\/edhub.ama-assn.org\/\">AMA Ed HUB<\/a>, an online platform that provides\nphysicians with access to quality educational resources in a variety of formats\nto support the lifelong learning, licensure, and certification needs of those\nin the medical community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The online platform is an excellent place for\nprivate practices to turn in order to learn more about the intricacies involved\nin collecting revenue. There\u2019s a wealth of great information in the STEPS\nForward <a href=\"https:\/\/edhub.ama-assn.org\/steps-forward\/module\/2702603\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Revenue Cycle Management in Medical Practice<\/a> module. Some of the key strategies discussed in this course include: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>How to choose a practice management system (PMS)<\/strong>. The key to choosing the right PMS for your practice is to gather input\nfrom your entire staff. Involving them in the selection process is the best way\nto make sure the system you choose will address all your practice\u2019s needs. It\u2019s\nequally important to make sure your PMS is compatible with your electronic\nhealth record system, as well. <\/li><li><strong>Take advantage of electronic submissions<\/strong>. Technology is your friend when it comes to submitting claims and\ncollecting payments. Electronic submissions streamline an often-onerous\nprocess, making it easier and quicker to check on claim statuses and provide\npatients with an explanation of benefits. And electronic pre-appointment\ninsurance eligibility verifications will help confirm eligibility and prevent\npatients from receiving unexpected bills. Additionally, this helps your\npractice determine accurate point-of-care pricing. The module includes helpful\nscripts for your staff to use when talking about payment issues with\npatients.&nbsp; <\/li><li><strong>Learn correct coding<\/strong>.
