Summer is over and autumn is done<\/p>\n

The calendar pages are down to just one<\/p>\n

The weather\u2019s turned cold, there are Santas galore<\/p>\n

On every corner (and inside every store)<\/p>\n

Lights decorate houses \u2013 colored and clear<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no doubt about it: Christmas is near<\/p>\n

Your staff is preparing to enjoy the season<\/p>\n

Make sure your patients don\u2019t resort to treason<\/p>\n

After showing up at your office for care<\/p>\n

Only to find that there\u2019s nobody there<\/p>\n

This can all be avoided and you will save face<\/p>\n

By making sure there\u2019s a holiday policy in place<\/p>\n

Make it official \u2013 write it all down!<\/p>\n

And then be sure to pass it around<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t keep it limited to your internal crew<\/p>\n

Let all your patients know about it, too<\/p>\n

Step one\u2019s the most basic, so do it with verve<\/p>\n

Decide which holidays you will observe<\/p>\n

Next, you\u2019ll need to address compensation<\/p>\n

And whether employees can tack on vacation<\/p>\n

Double time, triple time, time and a half<\/p>\n

Come up with a plan for the entire staff<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget decorations and holiday greetings<\/p>\n

Inform the whole staff in office-wide meetings<\/p>\n

Whether you\u2019re sticking to secular strictly<\/p>\n

Let everyone have input; this one is tricky!<\/p>\n

There\u2019s one final topic you\u2019ll need to address<\/p>\n

When patients give gifts should you acquiesce?<\/p>\n

Once this is decided, your plan is all done<\/p>\n
